Mise en scene

The song is based on the beautiful things around the world, such as the blue skies, the beautiful colors of the rainbow, the warmth and friendlessness people show each other, the lovely cries of babies, etc. Despite the numerous heartbreaking things that happen around us on a daily basis, the song’s lyrics try to make the listener understand that despite the ugly part of the world, the world also has beautiful side that is totally worth appreciating.

Denotation – The literal dictionary meaning.
Connotation – The meaning YOU (and other people) individually make.

ANIME RESEARCH FOR THE PODCAST

Why do people like anime?

Anime is a great pastime to be used as a form of entertainment. It helps to kill time as a form of escapism. Escapism though is essential as a form of an entertainment venue since when confronted with time it can cause us to think of one’s future.

when was the first anime?

The History of anime can be traced back to the start of the 20th century, with the earliest verifiable films dating from 1917. The first generation of animators in the late 1910s included Ōten Shimokawa, Jun’ichi Kōuchi and Seitaro Kitayama, commonly referred to as the “fathers” of anime.

One piece

How Luffy taught me about discrimination

In One Piece, there is a large list of varying races and tribes that inhabit its fictional world. For example, there are Fishmen, humanoid fish that can exist on both land or underwater but typically inhabit the seas. Merfolk are another humanoid species that exist underwater as part of that ecosystem. Additionally, other races and tribes include the Mink tribe, a group of humanoids with animal features, Skypeians, a group of angelic beings that live on sky islands, and the Longarm Tribe, a group of people with long arms that have two joints in them.

The moral of the story

1. Discrimination is never OK

It is because of discrimination, that Fisher Tiger had met his unfortunate end. But despite all his hard ships humans viciously forced upon him, he still knew that they weren’t all bad and desperately tried not to hate them. He knew that hate only fuels hate and died trying to break the cycle.

2. Never give up on your dreams

The trope of most anime protagonist is their amazing ability to keep their optimism and holding on to their dreams despite moments of intense hardships. Luffy is no exception to this as he has the will that surpassed god and the best of all he never doubts himself.

3. You don’t always have to win to be a hero

If anime has taught me anything it is that even if trying is the best you can do, if you try your best you can never feel ashamed. I can’t think of how many times characters in this show have given all they got even when they knew they didn’t stand a chance.

4. Family and Friends are the important thing in life.

Luffy always talks about how nothing will stand between him and his friends but we all know he would lay down his life fore his friends.

5. Don’t judge a book by its cover

Every character absurdities, Luffy is a complete buffoon but when push comes to shove he is a force to reckon with.

6. Sometimes your enemies can become your greatest allies or even your friends.

Nami, Robin, Franky, Bon Clay and Crocodile, one episode will have you hating a person and then loving them the nest. it teaches us a valuable lesson about judgement and how sometimes a little understanding can alter a person view on someone.

7. You can’t bring back what is lost, only focus on what you have.

This is a quote said by the great and wise Jinbe, but it has been taught time and time again all through out One piece.

8. You never know how much you can take until you have to

Just when you think someone is down for the count, they always push a little further and in the end come out ok. Sometimes life can and will get the better of you but that’s ok but its important to keep on going and never give up.

9. There’s nothing wrong with being who you are

Ivankov exists as a living testament that everyone should be free to live comfortable in their own skin, whether your male, female or anything in between, short or tall, blonde or purple, straight or gay. Be confident in your self.

RADIO- History of science

Technology supports the development of creative processes, therefore knowing the history and the evolution of the science behind it is very important.

The Telephone was invented in the 1860s and 70s. And Scottish inventor Alexander Graham Bell and American engineer Elisha Gray Created working telephone systems in 1876, But the telephone was a one on one as it had no way to communicate to the masses.

But it wasn’t until the invention of commercial sound recorders and motion picture cameras in the late 1800s that you could consume the same media as other people around the world.

Thomas Edison was also working on a telephone, he developed the phonograph in 1877, before he developed the light bulb and an electrical power system that made him famous.

Edison's Electric Light and Power System - Engineering and ...

French artist Louis Le Prince was the first to work a workable movie camera, in 1888 he created the first known movie, a very short one showing off Roundhay garden in Leeds.

In 1890s Edison and Scottish inventor William Dickson invented the Cinematography which was the first motion picture camera, it works by taking lots of photographs which are called frames. When they’re played back quickly, they give the illusion of motion because the human brain can only process so many images per second before it gives up.

In 1891 Edison created the prototype kinetoscope, the first device for individual movie viewing. In 1893 he debuted this device in Brooklyn. And in 1895 he created the cylinder phonograph which adds sounds to his moving pictures.

Edison’s movies only lasted one minute, one of his early movies for example was of three blacksmiths, other productions include the “the kiss” and “Fred Otts sneeze”, Annie Oakley shooting glass balls, “Frankenstein”, and “Professor Welton’s boxing cats”. Most of these were shot in the first movie studio, the black maria, which was created at Edison’s new lab in est Orange, New Jersey.

French Brothers Auguste and Louis Lumiere invented cinematograph in the 1890s with idea of holding mass screenings.

And in 1902 the U.S. Court of appeals ruled against Edison, fining his company hold the patent on all movie cameras, just the specific model Dickson invented. By then, cinema had moved to the west coast.

Radio came decades after cinema, as radio waves would have to travel long distances without losing fidelity or accuracy. Whereas movies were just carted around using physical reels of film.

Scottish physicist James Clerk Maxwell predicted the existence of radio wave back in the 1860s but it was German physicist Heinrich Hertz discovered in 1885 that a wire carrying an electric current will radiate electromagnetic waves when swung back and forth.

Inspired by Hertz’s research, a young Italian inventor engineer named Guglielmo Marconi worked int the 1890s on how to send telegrams wireless. By 1899 he sent the first wireless telegraph signal across the English channel. And by 1901, he was able to send a single S across the Atlantic ocean.

But the process took a while as regular radio broadcasts began in 1920 in Pittsburgh, and the first British broadcasting corporation created the first radio network in 1922. by 1936 three quarters of american households owned a radio.

The greatest example of this occurred when on October 30, 1938, When Orson Welles directed an adaptation of H. G. Well’s novel, “War of the Worlds,” in which terrifying Martians invade earth. But this broadcast had caused a panic.

Scottish inventor John Baird invented a mechanical TV in the early 1920s. he used transparent rods to transmit images of only thirty lines at a time. Baird demonstrated the first televised images in 1924, and moving ones in 1926. in 1928 he transmitted a human face across the Atlantic Ocean. He even worked on color television, a tech that wouldn’t become standard until the 1950s.

Analysis of Welcome to Night Vale

The Drawbridge

“Rabbits are not what they seem to be.” The statement immediately hooks you in just by saying this statement as it shows that rabbits are not just cute and fluffy and that they are a mystery or maybe evil.

“We’ve had some power outages reported throughout Night Vale in the last couple of hours. If you’re experiencing one…well then you can’t hear me, can you?” The reader has asked a rhetorical question which we already know the answer to, the power outage reported throughout Night vale suggest its an odd town.

“which are roving back and forth across town in a continuous motion, like a great pacing beast.” This suggest that the power outage are quite violent as the power outage is described like a great pacing beast.

“Keep some flashlights with spare batteries and a childhood photo album by you tonight, just in case.” It makes you want to question why you need to leave your childhood photo album by you tonight, like is there some sort of danger that is going to happen or do we just need to leave it by your bedside table.

“Construction crews have tried building the bridge tower base supports from corrugated cardboard, non-dairy creamer, and ceramic bowls. Nothing has worked.” The reader makes it seem like the construction crew is working on a school project.

“Engineers are asking for help in determining how proper bridge towers are made.” This suggest that the engineers are not smart as they are asking for help.

“Do not use cursive or long words. Clearly labeled drawings are preferred.” This backs up my suggestion, claiming that the engineers are not smart as they can’t read long words and struggle to read cursive, but they can understand labeled drawings.

(pun intended, dear listeners) The reader is talking to us, the listener.

“the Dog Park” This phrase is constantly repeated making it sound like that the dog park is important somehow.

“Citizens are not even supposed to be consciously aware of the Dog Park” This tells us that the dog park is important and that its off limits because people are not even supposed to be consciously aware of the dog park but they are, this proves that something is going on at the dog park.
